XYZ/ Seoul hackathon was an amazing learning experience for our community and we teamed up with Korea University and Kyungman University Industry-Academia centers
Our entrepreneur community traveled to Korea for our third consecutive year since 2021 and we celebrated the occasion with a XYZ Hackathon that worked on societal issues with business perspective and collaborating cross-border. We wanted to put the best entrepreneur from Mondragon Team Academy to collaborate with graduates of Korean top universities to think globally and multidisciplinarity. Diving in different cultures has allowed us to understand the World better, to have a global mindset and design broader businesses.
Indeed, XYZ/ we knew the challenge to work in a different cultural context, but that was part of the magic of this wonderful opportunity to learn together, meet new organizations and try to find more innovative solutions to the big f*cking problems of our society.
In 2023, we developed the second edition in Finland and the first edition in Korea although we had experienced this bi-national hackathon in different formats the first in 2021 with Changwon National University that was the basis for this experience.
XYZ was intended to bring together talented multidisciplinary and intergenerational teams of entrepreneurs, university students, companies, and public institutions with the aim of building together a solution. XYZ is based on on three basic pillars:
We use accessible technology (X), so this year it could be no other than artificial intelligence
to solve significant problems (Y) in this edition we looked for decarbonized society and focus on emission reduction
in order to generate a positive social impact (Z).
XYZ was a 8 hours hackathon inaugurated by His Excellency Mr. Kirkpatrick De la Vega and presented by Professor Ha from Korea University and by Adrián Pacín, team coach of Teamlabs. We had an incredible expertise in our teampreneur community as Bootcamp a project from Koa team company, had facilitated a very in depth process of design thinking from ideation to prototyping.
Our AI experts from our tech partner SNGULAR that mentoring the process: Javier Martín (Innovation manager) and Giulia Palma (project manager) and our beloved team companies Dalba Gabriel Nicolás and Koa, Teo Cuenca that facilitated the smooth adoption of the best AI tool available.
In the end, during the last business mission, we created a very special XYZ/ because we wanted to share what we have learned about AI and we are really convinced of the potential of this tool to learn and work, and even to bridge the gap between cultures and overcome language barriers like in this hackathon.
Well, well: what is the challenge?
How might we work with AI to develop a sustainable project that a company would fund to reduce its energy waste?
And: how do we try to solve it?
We learn by doing and for this reason we create a solution as a team with design thinking: a methodology that aims to bring tangible solutions to the proposed challenge. It is composed of four steps: observation, definition, ideation and prototyping.
One day, one challenge, 5 different solutions to improve energy, metallurgy, iron, steel, textile, chemical and food industries.
Thanks so much to Dalba Company, Koa Company and Adrián Pacin, Jose Sopeña and Luciana Priano (our Team coaches in LEINN degree) to make this XYZ possible. Thanks to all the partners that are involved: MTA, SNGULAR KOREA UNIVERSITY, Kyungnam University, Embajada de España en República de Corea.
See you next year!
